Hockey ... A taste of home
Sunday Morning and Zeric is ready with his camera for the Hockey game later that night.
Dad was having fun with Zeric's hair while teaching Zeric how to say "1...2....3!!" while holding the camera up to your face. so funny because the way he say "1.2.3" is more like " da... doo.. deeeeee !"
It's amazing how he always falls asleep on Dad's shoulder and almost never on moms' ! but we need him rested up before the big game !
Zeric and Dad at a Hockey game in Australia. When we walked in the Ice Rink it reminded me (Amy) of the Lake Arrowhead Ice Castle. Made me a little home sick for the snow and Ice ! oyes and Hockey. I had no clue there were this many people that even like the sport , because they never play it on T.V. and you never hear of any sort of hockey... ever. So when James decided to take us, I couldn't wait to see !
The three of us getting ready to cheer for the home team... Newcastle North Stars vs. Sydney Bears. They had 3 special guest from the NHL, two players from the Penguins and I didn't catch the third Player over the cheap loud speaker and the woman's voice and the people screaming "Aussie Aussie Aussie !!! Oie Oie Oie !!! " It just added to the excitement of really seeing a HOCKEY game down unda !
Zeric has a new found thing for my vest buttons ... what ever keeps the little man happy i guess ;)
To think that a few NHL players are kicking some Ice on this little chunk of Ice down under was so cool.
I have told myself I will not let Zeric eat Nasty food little take away joints , but I KNOW one fry will not hurt !! It made him so happy and for some reason he got so into the game once he had a fry in his hand. He's such a little Hockey player by heart .... hee hee
Well the 3rd period hit Zeric hard ! Ask me how he slept through the whole period and many screams and horns and buzzers ? I have not a clue. He woke up when we finally scored in the shoot out. I'll tell you what !!! a shoot out is worth a million words.
Here's the only picture that wasn't too blurry out of the hundreds we took. The game was so much fun and Newcastle won 2-1 to the Sydney in the shoot out. It was so funny to hear Australia commentators and see people drinking coffee and being so low key compared to the American folks . Jenn, I think they need a little help in the cheering section... would you like to help ???
But all and all it was great and to see and hear that Australians love the sport just as much as I do. It's just more of an underground event at the moment. Maybe one day they will get the support they need !! Aussie Aussie Aussie !! Oie Oie Oie !!!
